“Medical care can be a very important bridge to peace.” That is the very foundation on which founder and first director of the hospital, Prof. Chaim Sheba, helped build Sheba Medical Center.
Our hospital is an open hospital at all times. We are an island of peace in a turbulent region of the world.
Few medical facilities in the world can boast experts working in almost all aspects and stages of stem cell research and treatment – with recognized scientific breakthroughs in this cutting-edge field. Sheba, however, has a unique advantage: the proximity of research labs to a leading primary care hospital, where advances in basic science immediately can be translated into clinical trials and treatments.
Explore the 6 divisions within Sheba’s world-class care facilities:
Sheba’s Acute Care Hospital has six divisions: • Division of Internal Medicine • Division of Surgery • Division of Pediatrics • Division of Gynecology & Obstetrics • Division of Imaging • Division of Laboratories.
The philosophy of the Rehabilitation Hospital is to facilitate long term physical and emotional rehabilitation—not only short-term acute care—to help patients optimize their functional integration in society.
The Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital’s mission is the treatment and caring of the sickest children with the most complex medical conditions. We are able to provide state-of-the-art care with all modern technologies available in each of our specialty units.
The Joseph Buchman Gynecology and Maternity Center (Ob/Gyn) at the Sheba Medical Center has been Israel’s leading Ob/Gyn center of excellence for four decades. Our mission is to integrate outstanding reproductive science research with cutting edge, high quality, and compassionate clinical care to advance women’s reproductive health. We also seek to train the next generation of academic Ob/Gyn physician scientists and provide comprehensive education to visiting physicians from around the world. Equally important, we are committed to developing new reproductive technologies and to advancing cutting edge research in related fields of Perinatology, Gynecology, Onco-Gynecology and Infertility. Discoveries in these areas will permit the development of targeted therapies and prevention strategies.
The Sheba Medical Center is the largest and most technologically comprehensive tertiary, university-affiliated, medical and research center hospital in Israel. We work with every major medical education institute in Israel, serving as a campus for a large number of students in every aspect of the medical and health professions. We are affiliated with the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University and hold a unique position as an academic teaching hospital in that we provide care to patients in both acute (the General Hospital) as well as sub-acute and chronic (the Rehabilitation Hospital) departments.
MSR, the Israel Center for Medical Simulation is a world leader in simulation-based medical education (SBME) and patient safety training. Through new approaches to healthcare training and practice, MSR strives to improve patient-safety and the clinical skills of healthcare providers. By proactively exposing trainees to challenging clinical and humanistic encounters, MSR aims to reduce errors and improve the quality of care and teamwork. The name MSR has a double meaning, it is the Hebrew acronym for “National Medical Simulation Center”, and it is also the Hebrew word meaning to “convey an important message”.
